Loved it!

Here are some of my favourite websites, hope you like some of them too.

101 Cookbooks
My co-worker Eve led me to this beautiful blog full of vegetarian and whole food recipes. This site is where the recipe for the healthy cookies I made a few months ago comes from.
A Year of Slow Cooking
One woman’s new year’s resolution to use her slow cooker every day in 2008. Thats takes some major creativity! The site includes pictures of the ingredients aswell as the final creation.
Bakerella
Gorgeous recipes and gorgeous photographs. Just beautiful! I’m wishing for these.
Choosing Raw
Nutrition interests me just as much as baking cupcakes does – well almost. Gina, the author, eats a high-raw vegan diet and shares her knowledge as a raw foods lifestyle coach. This site will teach you a lot about a raw diet and it’s benefits. The food she makes looks delicious, I will have to try some of Gina’s recipes soon.
Cupcakes Take The Cake
Cupcake mania all day every day. My cupcakes were featured last year.
Eat, Live, Run
Jenna documents her daily menu with photographs and occasionally recipes. Jenna has a great food philosophy.
Kath Eats Real Food
Kath has a similar food philosophy to Jenna (see above) and is studying to become a Registered Dietitian. Both Jenna and Kath share personal moments in their lives as well as the great food they cook and eat.
That’s all for now. I’m always looking for new food and baking blogs so feel free to link to some in the comments section below.
Yes, to some it may seem extreme to plan a weeks worth of meals all at once. For others it’s a way to be organised, save money or eat nutritious meals regularly. It can also cut down on food wastage. I like knowing that I will come home from work to a fridge/pantry ready with the ingredients I need for a complete meal. I usually plan on Sunday or Monday – whichever day I do a big grocery shop. My aim is to have a few meat-free meals a week, a salad most days with lunch and vegetables every night. I also try to plan around ingredients. For example if I open some cream for a recipe on Monday night I try to come up with another meal idea with cream later in the week. Saves money and waste!
And yes, it’s ok for us not to stick to the plan 100%! Life happens, things change and sometimes we spontaneously decide to eat out, but I do like to have my little plan each week.
Any scrap of paper will do, by at the moment I like this free printable menu planner with shopping list from The Project Girl. Happy planning!

Bake with a spoonful or two of love with these heart-shaped measuring spoons from Pretty In Pink.

I often send samples of my baking with hubby to share with his coworkers. Each time the beautiful Nami sends back a thank you Post-it note. My collection has grown since this picture. Thanks Nami!

My friend Mel took me to see the film Waitress yesterday. It’s a sweet, moving and sometimes gritty film, with lots of pie baking. 27 kinds of pie actually, with a special new pie invented each day by Jenna (Keri Russell). I liked the film a lot and am inspired to bake some pie now! It inspired me in other ways too I guess. I went to see it knowing nothing about the film and was pleasantly surprised. If only life were as easy as pie!

On a sad note, writer/director and co-star of the film Adrienne Shelly passed away before it was released.
